Planting the right seed in our children

We shall reap what we
sow… this is scary!
Children are a gift from God (Psalms
127:3) and therefore should be brought
up and cared for to the best of our
abilities. We understand that our children
are growing in a changing and
demanding environment, but we are
obliged to instruct our children to follow
the deeds and ordinances of God.
This is the best gift we can offer to
our children if we want them to be responsible
citizens of our nations and
torch bearers of the gospel of Christ.
In the Old testament, our Lord commanded
the parents to make known
to their children the ways of God
so that the generation to come might
know them, even to their children
who would be born, that they may
arise and declare them to their children
as well, to set their hope in God
and not to forget the works of God,
but keep His commandments.
This directive concerning the Christian upbringing of children, established by
God Himself is still our obligation today! We are therefore charged with the responsibility
of guiding our children in a self-responsible conduct in accordance
with the basic values of the gospel of Christ. This includes loving God and their
neighbors. Parents are required to be an example in prayer, faith and in self-talk.
The seed you plant in your children that are what you will reap. If you talk bad
things about your neighbor, fellow child of God, your children will also talk
bad things about them. Sometimes they even do not greet them because you
have sown a bad seed in their hearts. Know that you are building a bad foundation
for the future of your children. They will always have thoughts of hatred
and not appreciate and love their neighbors.
In the word of the month, our Chief Apostle has given us food for thought,”
What image of the Church do we impart to our children? How do we talk about
our Church? This begins at home. How do we talk about the ministers? How do
we talk about the members? What do you talk about when your conversation
at home turns to the Church? This is the information that your children receive
from you! This is the image that you are imparting to your children!
This a big challenge we have at hand within our congregations and homes. Let
us act responsibly and shape the future of our children who are the cream of our
church.
